Meet Andy.

Andrew Paulson, MSN-BC, APRN, is an experienced nurse practitioner practicing in Brookfield, CT and living in Newtown, CT. Andrew received his undergraduate degree from Boston University in 2004 and went on to receive his BSN from Catholic University in 2009. In 2012 Andrew graduated from The University of Pennsylvania with his Master's in Nursing.

Andrew is unique in that he takes an integrative approach to healing and medicine, offering natural solutions combined with lifestyle changes. His practice focuses on all adults facing muscle, joint, and bone conditions including, but not limited to, osteoarthritis, plantar fasciitis, meniscus tears, and golf and tennis elbow.

His experience, training and education have given him the expertise to help patients using methods other than surgery and medication for treating both acute and chronic pain. This is reflective in the main approach he takes to healing all types of injuries, Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP). He has training in a wide variety of injections and has worked everywhere from private practices specializing in chronic pain, to hospitals treating patients suffering from acute pain.

Background

I am a Pain Management Nurse Practitioner who has been working in this growing specialty for the past 10 years. I began my passion for healthcare shortly after graduating from Boston University. I continued my education at Catholic University where I received a BSN in Nursing. After working in the Emergency Department at St. Francis Hospital in Delaware for three years, I went on to receive my MSN from The University of Pennsylvania and became a Board Certified Nurse Practitioner.

My first job as a Nurse Practitioner was in a large orthopedic practice. It was there that I slowly began to realize that some of the more traditional approaches to muscle and joint injuries were not bringing about the most positive outcomes. During this position I learned various injection techniques for numerous muscle and joint conditions, but continued to believe there was a better way. This was where my ideas of a complementary, more natural approach to healing began.

Experience has shown me that while patients sometimes want to try complementary treatments, many western medical providers are not educated about these modalities, and are reluctant to recommend them. I’ve also seen some patients who’ve been medically mismanaged by unscrupulous complementary practitioners. But, safe and effective complementary therapies, such as platelet-rich plasma therapy are available

I have seen firsthand the effectiveness and the complete change in outcomes of patients integrating PRP for joint and muscle conditions into their treatment plan. PRP comes from your own body so it is all-natural, unlike bone damaging corticosteroids injections or invasive meniscus repair surgeries or knee replacements. My goal is to educate each and every patient about this effective approach to healing. I will help you integrate PRP into your treatment plan so that you recover faster, with less pain, to get back to doing what you love.
